You Should Go and Love Yourself
Meditation is a hawt topic at the moment, and it's hit the mainstream for good reason. There have been plenty of studies that have found that mindfulness meditation does wonders for your mental and physical health. It helps with stress, down to your very core and naturally helps to elevate your mood. Things that have bothering you, can be brought to the forefront for a healthier state of mind. It creates a sense of awareness and understanding about who you are, and once you know who you are, you can be that for the world. We've found this is a beautiful way to learn to love yourself.
Letting Go of Ego
You know that little voice in your head, sometimes telling you you’re not good enough or not capable. The one always creating a story about the world and how you fit into it, or don't fit into it. The coolest part about meditation is that you get a vacation from your mind and its banter. When your mind becomes quiet, you can focus on the real you; it's incredibly freeing.
Nurturing Yourself is Part of Self-Love
Sometimes you have to fake it 'til you make it. If you’re not feeling great about yourself, but you do good things for yourself, it's a step in the right direction. Meditation is good for your mind, body, and soul. When you practice it, you’re sending a message to your Self, that you care about your own well-being.
You Figure out What is True for You
Sometimes we don't even realize that we are hiding from ourselves. This has a lot to do with shame that may be associated with our dark side; we all have a bit of darkness in us. It’s what creates the whole of every person. Everything has a duality; great joy and deep sadness; stillness and motion; light and dark. Meditation allows you to see that you are good enough, despite the dark things. Whether it’s towards our parents, teachers, or friends, we'll often hide parts of ourselves away, but when we look deeply into ourselves through meditation, we can learn to embrace the dark stuff too; that darkness isn’t evil.
You Create Spaciousness in Your Heart
Meditation may feel slightly frustrating when you begin. As you begin to break through the mental barriers, you might find that you can negate all the thoughts and feelings that would normally cause you to shut down. The author Michael Singer talks about how happiness can be within you at all times. If you decide to be happy regardless of circumstances, you never have to shut your heart down. Nice thought eh?
Self-Awareness Leads to Self-Love
A meditation practice gives you a heightened self-awareness. It allows you to tap into your feelings and motivations. Simply put, it gives you insight into your most true self. Meditation creates a certain knowing and wisdom within. It may take some time to get acquainted with the practice but it can give you so many benefits in life, like finding that space of love for yourself; an open heart (especially towards yourself), is extremely energizing.
