Writers Club: July

girlvana yoga and meditation for teen girls

New to our writers club? Here's what we're up to over here:

Getting lost in your thoughts and being able to get it all out on paper, maybe make some sense of it, or even just taking the time to acknowledge everything that's going on, is one of the most cathartic, heart-opening practices we know.

Journaling brings you into the moment, which can help press pause on future anxiety or past resentment. A way to actively engage with your thoughts, dreams, or even frustrations. It may help you remember those moments that you never want to forget, or map out a plan for the future. It can awaken your creativity and give you an outlet for expression. Most of all, it's a route to healing, it can clear stress or self-doubt and studies have even shown it can even help you sleep better. It's magic, tbh.

While journaling can be a very personal journey, there's power in sharing our truth. Likely there's someone out there who's feeling the same way, or having a similar experience. Reading someone else's truth and having it ring true for you, well, that's a soul connection, through and through. For this reason, we are so excited to announce our monthly Girlvana journal prompt. Every month we will give you a topic; something thought-provoking to help get those pens moving and ideas soaring. Maybe it's a call just to sit with your emotions and jot it down, or maybe it's a call to share.

So, get yourself a treat to snack on or drink, find a peaceful spot in your house, in the sun, or under a tree; set the scene, and dig into that beautiful mind of yours. You might be surprised what you end up with.

Inspired by our friends at The Good Spirit, who recently posted this Ekhart Tolle quote, "Acknowledging the good that is already in your life is the foundation for all abundance. The fact is: Whatever you think the world is withholding from you, you are withholding from the world. You are withholding it because deep down you think you are small and that you have nothing to give", we present, July's journaling prompt:

What are you holding back from the world? What expression are you keeping to yourself, that the world needs, that could help others or that could set you free?

Send through your journal pieces and we will share them with our online Girlvana community.  If you want to submit your piece, you can either click the button below (if you have it typed out), or simply take a photo of it and email it to info@girlvanayoga.com—just make sure we can zoom in and read/see it all. You choose whether you want author cred, or if you simply want to submit anonymously. Just be sure to send it through before July 31. Next month, fresh prompt.
